Enhanced Security Controls and User Experience Improvements

INKY introduces quarantine message denial capability, user-specific signature licensing, SSO configuration options, and critical bug fixes for message remediation display.

Back

Quarantine Message Denial

Administrators can now actively deny the release of quarantined messages that are pending approval. This new capability provides an additional layer of security control, allowing admins to prevent potentially harmful messages from being released to users' inboxes.

Key Benefits:

  • Proactive threat prevention with explicit denial option
  • Better control over quarantine message workflows
  • Reduced risk of accidental release of malicious content

User-Specific Signature Licensing

INKY now supports user-level licenses and fine print settings within email signatures. This feature enables organizations to add personalized legal disclaimers, licensing information, or compliance notices to individual user signatures.

This feature is particularly useful for organizations with users in different jurisdictions or roles requiring specific legal disclaimers.

How to Configure:

For Administrators:

  1. Navigate to your Signature Settings (EU: app.eu.inkyphishfence.com/settings/signatures)
  2. In the custom arrangement of data fields, add the "User-Specific Licenses, etc." option

User License Settings

For Users:

  1. Go to User Signature Settings (EU: app.eu.inkyphishfence.com/user-settings/signatures)
  2. Configure your personal licenses and fine print text

User License Configuration

Use Cases:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Add jurisdiction-specific legal disclaimers
  • Role-Based Notices: Include professional licensing information for regulated industries
  • Custom Disclaimers: Personalize signature fine print based on department or function

SSO Login Configuration for Encryption Portal

A new configuration option allows administrators to disable SSO login options on the encryption portal through the outbound settings page. This provides greater flexibility in authentication management for encrypted communications.

How to Configure:

  1. Navigate to Outbound Settings (EU: app.eu.inkyphishfence.com/settings/outbound)
  2. Scroll to the Encryption Portal Login section
  3. Check "Hide SSO login options for encryption portal"
  4. Users will now only be able to log in with their email address, not social channels

Email-Only Encryption Settings

Configuration Benefits:

  • Enhanced Security: Restrict authentication to email-only for sensitive encrypted communications
  • Simplified Access Control: Eliminate social login options where inappropriate
  • Compliance Requirements: Meet organizational policies that prohibit social authentication

Email-Only Encryption Configuration

Internal Name Match for Allow/Block Lists

INKY now provides the ability to manually enter internal name matches based on display names into the Allow/Block lists. This feature enhances email filtering precision by allowing administrators to create more sophisticated filtering rules based on sender display names.

How to Configure:

  1. Navigate to Allow List Settings or Block List Settings
  2. Select "Internal Name Match" as the result type
  3. Enter display names in the textarea following these conventions:
    • Each comma-separated value should be a display name from the From header
    • Matching is exact and case-sensitive
    • The entire display name must match exactly, including capitalization and punctuation

Internal Name Match Allow/Block Configuration

Important: Display name matching is case-sensitive and must be exact. For example, "John Smith" will not match "john smith" or "John Smith, CEO".

Key Benefits:

  • More granular control over email filtering
  • Ability to match on display names rather than just email addresses
  • Enhanced protection against display name spoofing

Custom Text for Internal Name Match Banner

Administrators can now customize the text displayed in the Internal Name Match banner. This feature allows organizations to provide context-specific warnings or instructions when internal name matching rules are triggered.

How to Configure:

  1. Navigate to Analysis Settings (EU: app.eu.inkyphishfence.com/settings/analysis)
  2. Locate the Internal Name Spoofing Protection section
  3. Enter your custom banner text in the provided field

Example Custom Text:

This email uses a name similar to someone in your organization. Be cautious — attackers sometimes use familiar names to gain trust. Verify the sender before responding or clicking links.

Internal Name Match Custom Text

Users will see this custom text displayed in the INKY banner when an email triggers the internal name match rule, providing clear, organization-specific guidance.

Use Cases:

  • Custom Warnings: Tailor security messages to your organization's needs
  • Multilingual Support: Display messages in the appropriate language for your users
  • Policy Communication: Include specific policy references or instructions

Outbound Settings Enhancements

The "display rule name" options on the outbound settings page have been clarified to provide better understanding of their functionality. This enhancement improves the user experience when configuring outbound email rules.

Automatic Graymail Foldering

When users report a message as graymail, INKY will now automatically move it to the designated graymail folder if foldering is enabled. This enhancement streamlines the graymail management workflow by eliminating the need for manual message organization.

Key Benefits:

  • Automated Organization: Messages reported as graymail are instantly filed to the appropriate folder
  • Improved Workflow: Reduces manual steps for users managing graymail
  • Consistent Filing: Ensures all graymail is properly organized when foldering is enabled

Bug Fixes

Remediation Status Display

Fixed a bug where the trash icon was incorrectly displayed for failed remediations. The message list actions now accurately show the trash icon only when remediation has been successfully completed, not merely attempted.

This fix ensures that users have accurate visibility into which messages have been successfully remediated versus those where remediation failed.

Impact:

  • More accurate status indicators in message lists
  • Reduced confusion about remediation success/failure
  • Better tracking of actual remediation outcomes

Dark Mode Improvements

  • Fixed white box display issue in partner center license selection when using dark mode
  • Resolved various minor dark mode styling inconsistencies across the dashboard
